This is BYD's second test track, following one in Hefei, Anhui province, and officially opened on 14/8. The 1,758-meter track features 9 curves and a 550-meter straightaway, allowing vehicles to reach speeds exceeding 220 km/h.
Unlike traditional test tracks with a single loop design, BYD's Zhengzhou facility incorporates 8 diverse terrain areas, including an indoor sand dune, a water pool, an off-road park, and a camping area.
The track also boasts a 15,300 m2 multi-functional area for experiencing zig-zag driving, smart parking, automatic emergency braking, and obstacle avoidance tests.
Standing at 29.6 meters high with a 28-degree slope, the indoor sand dune is certified by Guinness World Records as the tallest and largest indoor sand dune for automotive testing. It was constructed using 6,200 tons of sand, mimicking the Alxa Desert's granular composition.
A dedicated 70-meter water area was designed specifically for the Yangwang U8. The Kick-Plate area simulates runway conditions with a polished, wet cement surface. Using movable suction plates to simulate loss of control, the track allows drivers to experience emergency situations in a controlled environment.
BYD and the China Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports have jointly launched the "New Track Plan," aiming to offer millions of people the chance to experience track driving and cultivate car culture in China. A 60-minute experience package costs 599 CNY (83 USD).
In addition to the Hefei and Zhengzhou tracks, BYD plans to open another in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, in early 2026. The company stated it will build a natural mountain terrain area in eastern China, spanning 1.33 km2 at an altitude of 500 meters.
