Car changes lanes, sideswipes another vehicle, and flees

A white Peugeot swerved into the right lane, sideswiping the left rear of a car driving correctly in its lane, then drove away on July 13th on Giai Phong Street.

Video: Minh Hong

The incident occurred near the traffic light at the Giai Phong - Tuong Mai intersection. Dashcam footage shows the driver, Minh Hong, correctly positioned in the innermost lane approaching the intersection. A white Peugeot from the left lane attempted to overtake Hong's vehicle. As the Peugeot moved ahead, it drifted to the right, encroaching into Hong’s lane. Hong stated that after the Peugeot was more than halfway past her car, its rear end suddenly swiped the back of her vehicle. Following the collision, the Peugeot continued driving without stopping.

This incident highlights the importance of safe driving practices. Drivers should avoid reckless overtaking and only pass when it is safe for themselves and others. Changing lanes without checking for other vehicles can cause dangerous collisions and property damage. In the event of a collision, drivers should stop to discuss the situation and not flee the scene. Leaving the scene of an accident carries a fine of 16-18 million VND and six points deducted from the driver's license.
