According to sales data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association (VAMA), the D-segment high-riding vehicle market recorded total sales of 2,381 units in November. This represents a slight 2,8% increase from October's 2,317 units, adding 64 vehicles to the segment. However, this modest growth was primarily driven by the top two best-selling models, as most other vehicles in the segment experienced a decline.
The Ford Everest maintained its commanding lead in the D-segment, securing an overwhelming 60,8% market share. In November, Ford delivered 1,449 Everest units, an increase of 34 vehicles compared to October, marking a modest 2,4% growth. This sales figure alone exceeded the combined sales of all its rivals, solidifying its dominant position.
The Mazda CX-8 experienced a positive November, recording sales of 296 units. This represented a notable 29,8% increase, up by 68 vehicles from 228 units sold the previous month, marking the segment's strongest growth rate.
After seven consecutive months without sales, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport saw a return in November, delivering 27 units to Vietnamese customers.
Conversely, most other models in the segment experienced declining sales. The Toyota Fortuner's sales dropped from 300 units in October to 286 units in November. Similarly, the Hyundai Santa Fe saw a decrease from 208 to 201 units, the Kia Sorento fell from 133 to 92 units, and the Isuzu mu-X declined from 33 to 29 units.
The November sales performance underscores the Ford Everest's unparalleled dominance, effectively making the D-segment its exclusive domain. For the year 2025 to date, the Ford Everest has sold a remarkable 11,209 units. Trailing significantly, the Toyota Fortuner holds second place with 2,841 units, followed by the Hyundai Santa Fe in third with 2,313 units. The Kia Sorento recorded 924 units, the Isuzu mu-X sold 248 units, and the Pajero Sport managed only 75 units.
