The incident occurred when a woman, carrying a baby on a motorbike, attempted to cross the road diagonally without observing oncoming traffic. She collided with one car, causing both herself and the child to fall onto the road. Immediately after the collision, one pickup truck approached from the opposite direction. Fortunately, the pickup driver reacted quickly, swerving in time to avoid hitting the woman and baby, only running over the motorbike. Both the woman and the child remained safe.
For motorbike riders, safe road crossing demands careful observation. Riders must ensure the path is clear before moving. Crossing diagonally is particularly dangerous, especially when transporting young children, as it compromises the safety of both the rider and other road users.
Car drivers should maintain broad awareness of their surroundings to anticipate unexpected situations. In Vietnam, motorbikes can unexpectedly cut across or along traffic lanes at any moment. Drivers of oncoming vehicles can also anticipate potential accident scenarios early, allowing them to proactively swerve to the right to avoid collisions.
