Reading articles about the chain-reaction accident involving the water truck on the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway, I've noticed that 99% of readers blame the truck without mentioning the skills of the drivers behind it.
First, let's be clear: my view is that the water truck driving so slowly on the expressway was wrong, no question. But more importantly, few people discuss the drivers' errors. Instead, we're falling into the mindset of "using someone else's mistake to cover up our own." This mentality prevents us from learning anything from the accident, focusing only on assigning blame.
Imagine if that water truck had suddenly stalled, blown a tire, or been the result of a previous accident. Would we still place all the blame on it?
As drivers, we must always control our steering, accelerator, and brakes, anticipating any unexpected situation. Hitting another vehicle, even if it's been there for a while, is clearly our fault, undeniable.
So, instead of blaming others, let's remind ourselves to maintain a safe distance, stay focused and alert, and always scan far and wide to anticipate potential hazards.
Drive safely.
