A Tesla Cybertruck owner has filed a lawsuit in Houston, Texas, claiming the vehicle's full self-driving (FSD) system attempted to steer her truck off an overpass. The plaintiff, Justine Saint Amour, filed the suit in Harris County court, demanding over one million USD in compensation.
According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred in 8/2025 while Saint Amour was driving her electric pickup on Eastex Freeway 69 with FSD engaged. As the vehicle approached a Y-junction near the Houston Metro 256 Eastex Park & Ride, the FSD system, instead of following the highway's right curve, attempted to drive straight towards a concrete barrier. The driver reportedly regained control just before impact but could not avoid the obstacle, resulting in the Cybertruck colliding head-on with the barrier.
The collision caused Saint Amour to suffer significant injuries, including a herniated disc, cervical disc herniation, wrist sprain, and neuropathy. The Chron reported that dashcam video recorded the accident, showing the Cybertruck attempting to navigate the curve at the interchange but ultimately crashing into the barrier. Post-accident images reveal the black Cybertruck's front bumper shattered, with vehicle debris scattered on the road.

The lawsuit further alleges that Tesla's decision to rely solely on a camera system for its autonomous driving technology, rather than integrating radar or LiDAR sensors, contributed to the accident. The suit also characterizes Elon Musk as an "aggressive and irresponsible salesman" with a history of "dangerous design choices," alleging Tesla's negligence in the incident.
