A truck stopped on a street in Hubei on 8/3, as captured by a surveillance camera. Fire quickly erupted from underneath, engulfing the vehicle in black smoke.
Nearby, an SUV and a sedan were parked on the roadside. Approximately two minutes later, both drivers appeared. While the sedan driver quickly turned their vehicle around and left the scene, the SUV driver seemed unhurried.
Even after the sedan departed and ample space was available behind, the SUV driver slowly moved forward, reversed, and turned, driving directly over the spreading flames from the truck. The fire ignited the right side of the SUV, charring a portion of its body. The vehicle then drove out of frame, its full extent of damage unclear.
This incident quickly sparked intense debate, with most questioning the SUV driver's puzzling actions.
"Even watching on screen, I couldn't help but worry for the owner", one person commented. "If he had reversed, the car wouldn't have burned so badly!", another added, or "This is truly inexplicable behavior!", others remarked.
One observer noted that the driver simply needed to engage reverse and back up a few meters to quickly escape the fire and leave the dangerous area. Instead, the driver remained determined to turn the vehicle around, even bringing the SUV closer to the rapidly spreading flames. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
