Driver with blood alcohol content over limit fined over 70 million VND for multiple violations

A driver was found with a blood alcohol content exceeding the maximum legal limit and no vehicle documents, while the vehicle itself had prior violations.

A driver of a passenger transport vehicle faces fines exceeding 70 million VND for a series of traffic offenses. These include driving with a breath alcohol content significantly over the legal limit, operating without proper vehicle documentation, and having a suspended driver's license. The vehicle involved also had previous infractions.

The incident occurred on the evening of 1/9, on National Highway 54 in Phong Thanh commune. The Cau Ke Traffic Police Team stopped a passenger transport vehicle after observing unusual behavior. During the inspection, the driver presented only a citizen identification card and a record of another administrative violation, but lacked any vehicle documents.

Further examination revealed the driver's breath alcohol content was 0,62 mg/liter of breath. This level is well above the maximum legal limit for car drivers, which is 0,4 mg/liter of breath.

Adding to the violations, the driver's license was already temporarily suspended due to a separate prior offense. For these combined infractions—driving under the influence, operating without vehicle documents, driving with a suspended license, and the vehicle owner entrusting the vehicle to an unqualified person—both the driver and the vehicle owner were penalized.

This case was identified during a nationwide general inspection and enforcement campaign for traffic order and safety. The Traffic Police implemented this campaign, targeting commercial transport vehicles, from 26/8 to 25/9.

The Traffic Police urged transport businesses to improve oversight of their drivers and vehicles. They emphasized that drivers must never operate vehicles after consuming alcohol and affirmed their commitment to strictly address behaviors that directly contribute to traffic accidents.
