Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari has introduced a new "prancing horse" named the 849 Testarossa, the successor to the SF90 Stradale. The Testarossa name holds significant weight in Ferrari's heritage. First launched in 1984 as the successor to the Berlinetta Boxer, and named after the Testa Rossa racing model of the 1950s, the original Testarossa quickly became one of Ferrari's most iconic and successful cars.

The new 849 Testarossa is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 818 horsepower. This is combined with three electric motors (two at the front and one at the rear axle) adding another 218 horsepower, resulting in an all-wheel-drive system. Combined, the 849 Testarossa boasts a total output of 1,036 horsepower. The hybrid supercar comes with a 6.5 kWh battery pack and has an all-electric range of 26 km.
Test results show the hybrid supercar can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 330 km/h. On Ferrari's Fiorano test track, the 849 Testarossa is 1.5 seconds faster than the SF90 Stradale's time of 1:19.0.
To maximize performance, the 849 Testarossa is equipped with an active rear wing that can deploy or retract in less than a second. This works in conjunction with two smaller dual tail wings integrated into the rear bumper. Together, they generate downforce of up to 430 kg at 249 km/h, 50 kg more than its predecessor.
Customers can also opt for the Assetto Fiorano racing package, which further enhances aerodynamics and reduces weight by 30 kg compared to the standard 849 Testarossa, bringing the dry weight down to just 1,570 kg.
The 849's exterior doesn't resemble the original Testarossa, but the new hybrid supercar still retains some characteristic design elements. Like the Ferrari F80 and 12Cilindri, the 849 Testarossa features a glossy black trim connecting the headlights, while the lower front bumper has angular lines reminiscent of the original Testarossa.
The 849 Testarossa is available in two versions: Coupe and Spider (convertible). The convertible version features a retractable hardtop that can be lowered in 14 seconds at speeds below 45 km/h. It weighs 90 kg more than the Coupe due to the folding roof mechanism.

The 849 Testarossa's interior design is more driver-focused than the SF90. The cabin features a wraparound driver's seat, inspired by racing cars. Traditional buttons return to the steering wheel, replacing the touch-sensitive controls found on recent Ferrari models. The digital instrument cluster integrates Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and MyFerrari Connect, along with wireless charging.
The Ferrari 849 Testarossa will first be available in the European market, starting at 538,500 USD for the Coupe and 585,400 USD for the Spider. Deliveries to customers are scheduled to begin in mid-2026.
