Kia's PV5, first unveiled as a concept at CES 2024, utilizes the company's Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV). This platform focuses on the commercial market and features a skateboard chassis.
The PV5 boasts seven variations, including open-bed trucks, refrigerated vans, luxury passenger vehicles, and lightweight campers. In June, Kia launched a taxi version specifically designed for transportation services.
Equipped with a 71.2 kWh battery, the taxi version has a range of up to 358 km. It also includes taxi-specific features like protective floor mats, rear USB Type-C ports, and sliding second-row doors.

The All-in-One Display 2 integrates essential functions for taxi operations.
On 16/9, Kia introduced the All-in-One Display 2, a specialized feature for the PV5 taxi. This system marks Kia's first foray into developing PBV-specific infotainment systems with external partners.
The 12.9-inch All-in-One Display 2 integrates essential taxi functions: the Kakao T taxi app, Kakao Navi navigation, and a mileage app. This streamlined system replaces the need for multiple separate devices.
Drivers can accept calls via a steering wheel button. Features like automatic premium card fare additions simplify payment processing, improving convenience and efficiency.
Compared to the current All-in-One Display 1, Kia Connect and location-based advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) function similarly to standard vehicles. The display's position is also adjustable for driver convenience.
The Kia PV5 taxi starts at 45.4 million won (33,000 USD) in South Korea, with several versions available. The new All-in-One Display 2 is available on Kia's website for 370,000 won (268 USD).
Kia aims to sell 3,000 to 4,000 PV5s in its first year. By the end of the decade, Kia projects annual PBV sales of around 17,000 units.
Following the PV5, Kia will launch the larger PV7 in 2027 and the PV9 in 2029. All PBVs are manufactured at Kia's Hwaseong EVO plant in South Korea.
