Hanoi currently operates 1,873 AI cameras across the city, strategically placed at 195 key intersections. Authorities state that, theoretically, these advanced cameras can identify over 20 types of traffic violations.
Common offenses automatically detected recently include: failing to obey traffic lights, not wearing a helmet, driving against traffic, not wearing a seatbelt, and using a phone while driving. Other detectable violations include: failing to signal lane changes, not adhering to road markings, illegal stopping or parking, carrying more passengers than allowed, improper passenger pickup/drop-off, covering license plates, transporting bulky goods, and operating homemade vehicles.
Vehicle owners and drivers can proactively check for "cold fines" on the VNeTraffic application or the general department of traffic police, ministry of public security's website at www.csgt.vn. For further guidance and resolution, individuals can also directly contact the traffic command and signal control team (Hanoi city police traffic police department) at 54 Tran Hung Dao, Cua Nam ward, Hanoi city, by phone: 0692.196.440.
