According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association (VAMA) sales report, 2,023 mid-size SUVs were sold in July, a slight 6.3% increase compared to 1,903 vehicles in June.
The most significant growth in July belonged to the Santa Fe, with sales nearly doubling from 145 vehicles in June to 280 in July. This 93.1% increase is partly attributed to promotional programs from the South Korean automaker.
Toyota Fortuner also recorded impressive growth. July sales reached 347 vehicles, a 16.4% increase compared to the 298 sold in June. Fortuner's comeback demonstrates that its once-dominant position remains strong.
Mazda CX-8 maintained a slight growth trajectory, from 207 vehicles in June to 212 in July, a 2.4% increase. While not groundbreaking, this stability helps the CX-8 solidify its position in the segment.
The segment's sales leader, the Ford Everest, saw a slight decline. Sales of the American SUV decreased from 1,122 vehicles in June to 1,089 in July, a 2.9% drop. Despite this, the Everest retains its top position by a wide margin.

The most significant sales declines in the segment belonged to the Kia Sorento and Isuzu mu-X. The South Korean Sorento dropped from 108 vehicles in June to 79 in July, a 26.9% decrease. Similarly, mu-X sales fell from 23 to 16 vehicles, a 30.4% decline. These two models continue to struggle against competitors in the segment. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been discontinued since July.
For the year 2025 to date, the Everest has sold the most with 6,223 vehicles, followed by the Fortuner with 1,756, the Santa Fe with 1,561, the CX-8 with 1,438, the Sorento with 516, the mu-X with 148, and the Pajero Sport at the bottom of the rankings with only 48.
