Mitsubishi Vietnam confirmed the information but did not specify a precise launch date within the year. Imported from Japan, the Outlander will likely be positioned higher than the Destinator, competing with its compatriot, the Honda CR-V.
The third generation Outlander, assembled at Mitsubishi's plant in TP HCM (formerly Binh Duong), ceased sales in late 2025. It was replaced by the new Destinator, imported from Thailand. Globally, the Mitsubishi Outlander is currently in its fourth generation, featuring a completely different design and engine from the version previously sold domestically.

The fourth generation of the Outlander debuted in 2021, primarily targeting markets such as North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia. The Mitsubishi Outlander's twin is the Nissan Rogue (X-Trail), sharing a platform with the Renault - Nissan - Mitsubishi alliance.
The Outlander boasts a strong, imposing overall design. It features a wheelbase of 2,705 mm and dimensions of 4,710 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width, and 1,750 mm in height. Compared to the Destinator, the Outlander is 40 mm longer, 20 mm wider, but 35 mm lower. The Destinator's wheelbase is 110 mm longer than the Outlander's.
The Outlander's interior design is modern. Standard features for the vehicle in Japan include: a 12,3-inch central infotainment screen, full leather upholstery, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, and an 8-speaker Yamaha audio system.

In Japan, the Mitsubishi Outlander is exclusively sold with a single engine configuration: a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). It is equipped with a 2,4 petrol engine producing 131 hp and 195 Nm of torque. Two electric motors are located on the front and rear axles, generating 114 hp and 255 Nm of torque, and 134 hp and 195 Nm of torque, respectively. It uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The Outlander's battery has a capacity of 22,7 kWh, providing an all-electric range of approximately 102-106 km (WLTC standard).
The price of the new Mitsubishi Outlander in Vietnam remains unknown. Mitsubishi's current C-segment CUV, the Destinator, is priced between 780-855 million dong.
