The incident occurred when a pickup truck was driving against the flow of traffic in the lane closest to the median strip, where the speed limit is 100 km/h. A large truck traveling in the correct direction in the same lane approached the pickup, forcing it to reverse back towards the Cam Khe exit.

Driving against traffic on expressways is strictly prohibited due to the high risk of head-on collisions and severe consequences. Drivers must adhere to traffic laws and prioritize safety. Taking shortcuts or driving the wrong way to save time endangers lives.

Decree 168/2024 stipulates a fine of 30-40 million VND and a 10-point deduction from the driver's license for driving against traffic on an expressway.
