Range Rover Electric 2027 debuts, priced from USD 138,000

The luxury SUV features an all-electric powertrain for the first time, offering 542 horsepower, a 118,5 kWh lithium-ion battery, and a 536 km range.

Luxury automotive brand Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has unveiled the Range Rover Electric, marking a historic shift for the brand with its first pure electric powertrain. The new model delivers 542 horsepower and retains the brand's iconic off-road capability.

After 56 years, Range Rover has introduced a fully battery-powered version of its flagship SUV. The Range Rover Electric is now available for pre-order in the US market, with prices starting from USD 138,000. JLR states the vehicle achieves an estimated operating range of 536 km.

The Range Rover Electric is produced at the Solihull factory in England, sharing the same production line as its internal combustion engine and hybrid counterparts. It utilizes two electric motors, one on each axle, generating a combined output of 542 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. Notably, this torque figure surpasses any previous Range Rover model.

This electric SUV accelerates from 0-96 km/h in 4,3 seconds. Range Rover asserts that the vehicle delivers performance comparable to a V8 engine.

Powering the electric motors is a 118,5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, composed of 344 prismatic cells. The vehicle features an 800 V architecture, supporting DC fast charging at up to 350 kW. According to the manufacturer, a 10-80% DC fast charge takes 22 minutes. At its fastest charging point, just 10 minutes of charging can add 201 km of range.

Off-road capability remains a core characteristic of this vehicle line. The Range Rover's integrated traction management system can adjust motor speed in just 50 milliseconds, which is approximately 100 times faster than an internal combustion engine system's response to wheel slip. The intelligent driveline dynamics system simultaneously distributes 0-100% of torque to the rear axle to ensure optimal traction.

The single pedal mode allows drivers to control the vehicle for ascending 33-degree inclines or descending 45-degree slopes using only the accelerator pedal. Despite its electric powertrain, the Range Rover Electric maintains an impressive wading depth of up to 889 mm.

The Range Rover Electric shares its platform with mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and petrol models, all manufactured on the same Solihull production line.

The battery pack and electric drivetrain are produced at JLR's electric motor manufacturing center in Wolverhampton, alongside the production of internal combustion engines. JLR refers to this facility as the largest of its kind in the UK.

Customers can order the Range Rover Electric in either short or long wheelbase configurations, along with SE, Autobiography, SV, SV Black, and SV Ultra trim levels. The First Edition offers additional paint options: Belgravia Green, Santorini Black, or Varesine Blue, paired with Light Cloud Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat interior materials.

The battery and electric motors come with an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty. US customers also gain access to Tesla's Supercharger network thanks to integrated NACS compatibility, in addition to an optional home charger.

Within the product lineup, the Range Rover Electric stands as a pure electric option alongside plug-in hybrid models and the smaller Range Rover Sport Electric, which uses a similar powertrain.
