Heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding in northern India, submerging low-lying areas and roads. Punjab is among the states most affected by the deluge. This video, filmed on 24/8, shows a group of off-road drivers exploring trails in the rain. The convoy included SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Maruti Suzuki Jimny, and Gypsy.
After navigating sandy trails, the group reached a point where they had to cross a river. Due to the heavy rains, a flash flood had occurred, causing the river to rise rapidly. Several vehicles were stranded on the opposite bank, unable to cross the swollen river.
The current was strong, and the water level continued to climb. One of the SUV drivers on the far side decided to attempt a crossing. He drove into the water, but within seconds, it became clear this was a mistake.
Almost immediately, the Jeep was swept sideways and flipped onto its side. The vehicle righted itself momentarily before tipping over again, becoming lodged on what appeared to be a sandbar. Two people were inside the Jeep, and both clung to the vehicle.
Other members of the group threw ropes with hooks towards the trapped occupants, but they were out of reach. After several unsuccessful attempts, they called for an excavator. The two individuals climbed into the excavator's bucket and were brought safely to shore. The excavator driver then used the bucket to pull the Jeep out of the water.
