A taxi driving in the outermost left lane on Vo Nguyen Giap street, towards Noi Bai airport, suddenly slowed down on the morning of 6/9. It then cut across traffic to turn into the right lane, heading towards the airport terminal. This forced a heavy container truck in the middle lane to brake sharply, and the vehicle with the dashcam had to swerve to the right to avoid a collision.
Drivers should always change lanes early when they need to switch lanes or approach exits, rather than cutting across traffic. Decree 168/2024 on traffic violations imposes fines of 600,000-800,000 VND for improper lane changes. If an accident occurs, the fine increases to 20-22 million VND, along with a 10-point deduction from the driver's license.
Drivers with dashcams should maintain a broad view and anticipate situations early. In the video, the driver could have observed the taxi's intention to cut across from a distance. Slowing down in such cases can help prevent unexpected incidents.
