Tesla has launched the 2026 Model Y Performance, initially for markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Borrowing heavily from its sibling, the Model 3 Performance, this high-performance model combines dual electric motor power, a redesigned suspension, a refreshed exterior, and sportier seats. Tesla positions the Model Y Performance as an affordable option for families.

The Model Y Performance's exterior stands out with its sport body kit, featuring exclusive 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels and red brake calipers. The air intakes and front fascia have been redesigned compared to the previous version, alongside an extended carbon fiber spoiler, a deeper diffuser, and additional air vents on the rear bumper, as well as a new badge on the tailgate.
The interior of the 2026 Model Y Performance features new sport seats with heating, cooling, and power adjustments. The dashboard is trimmed in carbon fiber, and there's a large 16-inch infotainment touchscreen. A premium 15-speaker sound system completes the interior upgrades.
The 2026 Model Y Performance is equipped with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive (AWD). The European version boasts a total output of 460 horsepower, while the US version (available from 2026) offers a higher output of 510 horsepower, matching the Model 3 Performance.
Tesla's tests show the 2026 Model Y Performance accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the previous version, 0.4 seconds slower than the Model 3 Performance, and 0.1 seconds slower than the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
In this new version, Tesla replaces the standard model's selective frequency dampers with new electronically controlled continuously variable dampers, similar to those in the Model 3 Performance but tuned for the crossover.
Despite the performance improvements, the 2026 Model Y Performance maintains a range of 580 km, only 6 km less than the Long Range version. This is achieved through high-density battery cells with enhanced charging capabilities, combined with a new powertrain that provides a wider operating thermal window, improving overall efficiency. The vehicle can achieve a range of 243 km with a 15-minute high-power DC fast charge.
The 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance is scheduled to go on sale from September. Pricing varies by market. In Germany, the high-performance crossover is priced at 72,400 USD, while in the UK, it's 79,000 USD.
