Toyota Camry 2026 packed with interior technology, priced from 25,500 USD

The new D-segment sedan focuses on interior refinements, a larger infotainment screen, massage seats, and starts at 25,500 USD.

Toyota has unveiled the new Camry for the Chinese market, ahead of the Chengdu Auto Show 2026. This D-segment sedan emphasizes a completely redesigned interior and integrated technology to compete with local rivals, despite minimal exterior changes. Toyota has shifted from an asymmetrical dashboard and touch-sensitive climate controls to a minimalist, modern design, mirroring competitors in China.

A larger 15,6-inch touchscreen replaces the previous 12,3-inch central infotainment screen. This system integrates climate controls and an AI-powered voice assistant. The driver's display is now 8,8 inches, with an optional augmented reality head-up display.

The Camry 2026 offers premium amenities. The 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat includes heating, ventilation, and a 10-point massage function. Rear seats also feature heating, cooling, and an 8-degree power recline. The cabin has 64-color ambient lighting, a crystal gear selector, soft leather materials, and a panoramic sunroof with an artificial suede headliner.

Additional technologies include a digital key, 50W qi wireless charging, a fragrance system, a digital rearview mirror, and a 14-speaker JBL sound system. Toyota also enables users to attach Xiaomi accessories for installing devices like tablets in the rear.

Powertrain options for the Camry 2026 in China remain unchanged, offering gasoline and hybrid variants. The gasoline engine is a 2.0 M20C-FKS naturally aspirated unit, delivering 171 horsepower and 206 Nm of peak torque, mated to a CVT transmission. Hybrid choices include a 2.0 M20F-FXS hybrid with 195 horsepower and a 2.5 A25D-FXS hybrid generating 297 horsepower.

Toyota has not included the fully autonomous driving features common in China for city and highway use. Instead, the vehicle retains the toyota safety sense 3.0 driver assistance package, offering standard level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities, notably automatic lane change.

The Camry 2026's exterior remains largely unchanged, apart from minor grille refinements on some versions.

The Camry 2026 focuses on interior enhancements.

The Camry 2026's exterior is almost identical to its predecessor. The standard LE variant retains a body-colored honeycomb grille, a design specific to this market. SE and XSE versions, however, feature more aggressive front bumpers and locally installed bodykits.

The Camry is manufactured in Guangzhou, China, by the GAC Toyota joint venture. Pricing starts from 25,500 USD, with the top-tier 2.5 hybrid version costing 38,500 USD.
