The Toyota GR GT, priced at USD 220,000, has already sold out its allocation for the US market even before its official launch. Toyota revealed it deliberately produced a limited number of GR GTs, insufficient to meet market demand. This strategy aims to ensure these high-performance vehicles reach genuine speed enthusiasts rather than being resold for profit. The US market is expected to receive approximately 200-250 units, all of which have already been reserved.
Andrew Gilleland, Senior Vice President of Sales for Toyota USA, emphasized the company's commitment to enthusiasts. "This is a passion project, born from chairman Akio Toyoda's desire for a world-class high-performance car. We do not want to sell cars to speculators; we only aim for those who genuinely want to drive them. The first allocation is completely sold out", Gilleland told Drive. Toyota has not yet announced the total global production volume for this model.
The demand for the GR GT has been immense. According to Gilleland, more than 150 potential customers worked directly with the Toyota team at The Quail event to select equipment options for their vehicles, even before the company officially opened order books.

Prospective buyers must undergo a rigorous vetting process before being approved to place a deposit. Jeff Bal, Director of the Gazoo Racing Sports Car Program, previously stated this requirement. While it is not yet clear whether buyers must sign a commitment not to transfer the vehicle for a specific period, this will likely be a mandatory condition to deter speculation.
As a key model in the GR high-performance vehicle line, the new supercar features a 4.0 V8 twin-turbo engine combined with hybrid technology. This powertrain delivers over 641 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Although a record price for a Toyota, this figure is still considered reasonable for a limited-production sports car. The first GR GT units are expected to reach customers in 2027.
