With 12,492 vehicles sold in the first 8 months of 2025, the VinFast VF 6 holds a 31% market share in the B-segment crossover (CUV) segment. Compared to gasoline and hybrid models, the Vietnamese brand's fully electric product has significantly outsold its competitors. This trend has been consistent from the beginning of 2025 to date.
If it maintains an average sales rate of over 1,500 vehicles per month as seen recently, the VF 6 could finish 2025 with over 18,000 units sold. This would be an unprecedented figure in this segment, surpassing even the peak periods of the Kia Seltos or Hyundai Creta.
In addition to the VF 6's dominance, the CUV segment has also seen a remarkable rise of the Toyota Yaris Cross. Sales of the Toyota model reached nearly 7,700 units in the first 8 months of 2025, a 30% increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, its direct competitor in the internal combustion engine segment, the Mitsubishi Xforce, sold 6,660 units, a 19% decrease.
The Yaris Cross started 2025 with manufacturer and dealer promotions, primarily offering 50-100% registration fee support for both versions. The Toyota model gained sales momentum ahead of the Xforce, which only began offering similar promotions from the second quarter to compete.
The Yaris Cross has established a sales lead of about 1,000 units over the Xforce. With 4 months remaining in 2025, the Mitsubishi model still has a chance to turn the tables on its compatriot rival, but it won't be easy. Currently, the average monthly sales for the Toyota are around 960 units, while the Xforce averages 830 units.

Both the Yaris Cross and Xforce are top sellers for Toyota and Mitsubishi, two of the top 5 automakers in the market. In the B-segment CUV segment, a popular choice among Vietnamese customers, brands with products that align with consumer trends often achieve high market share.
The Toyota Yaris Cross is priced in the mid-range of the segment and offers fewer versions than its top competitors. Its advantages include brand recognition, durability, practical design, and a wide range of features. The Xforce boasts a youthful design, numerous features, and safety features, and is an imported vehicle with a competitive price comparable to domestically assembled Korean cars.
The mid-cycle upgrade released in June has brought positive results for the Hyundai Creta. Sales in August reached 600 units, a 45% increase compared to the previous month. Year-to-date, the Korean model has sold nearly 4,200 units, a slight 2% increase compared to the same period last year.
The Kia Seltos has yet to break free from its stagnation, with sales in the past 8 months down 2% compared to the same period in 2024. The Kia model is competing with the Honda HR-V at around 3,500 units sold. The HR-V offers the most hybrid versions in the segment.
Truong Hai launched a mildly upgraded version of the Mazda CX-3 in August, transitioning from imported to domestic assembly. Sales of Mazda's smallest SUV remain modest, averaging over 220 units per month.
The B-segment CUV segment includes other models like the Geely Coolray, Omoda C5, MG ZS, and BYD Atto 2, but manufacturers and distributors have not released sales figures.
