A truck approaching the Cekmekoy toll plaza on 28/8 showed no signs of slowing down. After hitting a barrier, the truck sideswiped a toll booth, swerved right, and collided directly with a parked police car.
Several police officers narrowly escaped injury. The impact sent the police car careening off the road.
The accident injured 5 people: two police officers, two occupants of the truck, and a bystander. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya posted about the accident, stating that the truck driver was arrested. Tests revealed the driver was under the influence of drugs.
