The incident occurred when a truck merged at high speed, its rear striking the front of a motorcycle carrying two people who were proceeding straight. The impact caused both motorcyclists to fall onto the road, with one person lying motionless.
Regarding driving skills, a driving safety expert from Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam advises that vehicles approaching an intersection or open exit must reduce speed. Specifically, when merging from a branch road onto a main lane, drivers must yield to vehicles already on the priority road, observe, and only merge when it is safe to do so.
When merging, drivers must first enter the nearest lane. They should then observe the adjacent lane for clear traffic before proceeding to change to the next lane. Changing two lanes at once is a violation of merging regulations. Under Decree 168/2024, the penalty for a lane change resulting in an accident is 20-22 million VND, along with a deduction of 10 points from the driver's license.
