Both bus models are equipped with 422 kWh LFP batteries from CATL and Gotion, providing a range of approximately 400 km. They feature 140 kW fast charging, allowing for a full charge in two to three hours. The EB 8 and EB 12 incorporate ADAS features such as blind spot monitoring, intelligent acceleration assistance, front collision warning, and driver drowsiness alert. Passenger amenities include Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, an entertainment system, and a height-adjustable suspension.
At the event, Vinfast also revealed its strategy for entering the European public transportation market. The Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer is actively seeking and establishing relationships with leading transportation and infrastructure partners in Europe, paving the way for the introduction of its electric buses.
Prior to their European debut, Vinfast's electric buses have been operating in Vietnam for 4 years. In its domestic market, Vinfast has built an electric bus ecosystem encompassing manufacturing, operation, maintenance, and the development of eco-friendly public transport networks in major cities. The company states it can produce 1,500 to 2,000 electric buses annually, with the entire process adhering to CE standards.
Vinfast's vision aligns with the Paris Agreement on climate change and European green transition goals: a 43% reduction in emissions by 2030, 90% of new buses being zero-emission by 2030, and achieving a 100% rate by 2035.
Le Thi Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of Vinfast, stated that Europe is one of the company's strategic markets due to their shared vision of green transportation and sustainable development. "The launch of these electric bus models affirms Vinfast's commitment to the region. Beyond personal electric vehicles, we aim to build a comprehensive green transition ecosystem, making electric transportation accessible to users," Thuy said, adding that with its diverse product range, the Vietnamese electric vehicle company is confident in creating a zero-emission transportation system.
In Europe, Vinfast has already introduced the VF 6, a B-segment electric SUV, and the VF 8, a D-segment electric SUV. The expansion into electric buses promises to further demonstrate Vinfast's manufacturing capabilities, technological innovation, and alignment with goals to promote public transport and reduce emissions in Europe.
