As a 100% state-owned commercial bank, Agribank has both fulfilled its policy implementation role and maintained business efficiency. In doing so, the bank has implemented many groundbreaking models: lending to farmer households, joint liability groups, mobile banking, agricultural product chains, clean and high-tech agriculture. Agribank also proposed the establishment of the Bank for the Poor, the predecessor of the current Vietnam Bank for Social Policies.
To date, the bank has operated over 64,000 joint liability groups and nearly 4,000 mobile banking transactions using specialized vehicles, serving tens of thousands of customers in remote and isolated areas.
Agribank is currently effectively implementing seven policy credit programs and three national target programs on new rural development, poverty reduction, and development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas. With a market share of agricultural and rural credit accounting for about one-third of the entire industry, the bank plays a vital role in channeling capital for agricultural production, contributing to ensuring food security, stabilizing the macro-economy, and promoting sustainable development.
In addition, the bank is also a pioneer in integrating "green finance" into agricultural development, supporting circular production models and reducing emissions, contributing to realizing Vietnam's commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.
From 2021 to 2024, Agribank contributed over 43,000 billion VND to the State budget, with over 15,000 billion VND in 2024 alone. The bank has been consistently ranked among the top 10 largest taxpayers in Vietnam for many years.
Alongside business activities, Agribank allocates around 500-700 billion VND annually for social security programs. In 2024 alone, the bank spent nearly 700 billion VND on housing projects, schools, medical stations, and activities related to disaster relief and environmental protection, contributing to improving the living conditions of tens of thousands of people across the country.
For its outstanding contributions, Agribank has been awarded numerous prestigious titles: the title of Labor Hero in the Renovation period (2003), the Second-class Independence Order (2008), the First-class Labor Order (2018, 2023), National Brand, Top 10 largest banks in Vietnam, and Top 50 largest enterprises in Southeast Asia. The bank is currently rated Ba2 by Moody's and BB+ by Fitch Ratings, with a stable outlook, equivalent to the national credit rating and the highest in the Vietnamese banking system.
