Bamboo Airways leads in on-time performance

Bamboo Airways boasts the highest on-time performance and lowest cancellation rate among Vietnamese airlines in the first six months of 2025, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Bamboo Airways achieved the highest on-time performance (OTP) among Vietnamese airlines during the first six months of 2025, with 81% of flights departing on schedule. The airline also recorded the lowest cancellation rate in the domestic market, according to a report by the CAAV.

The average OTP across the entire industry declined to 62.6%, a 13.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. Besides Bamboo Airways, only Pacific Airlines maintained an OTP above 80%, at 80.2%. VASCO, Vietnam Airlines, Vietravel Airlines, and Vietjet Air followed with OTP rates of 78%, 71%, 67.7%, and 50.6%, respectively.

A total of 844 domestic flights were canceled during the first six months of 2025, representing a cancellation rate of 0.6%, a 0.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Bamboo Airways had the lowest cancellation rate at 0.1%, with only eight canceled flights. Vietjet Air canceled 0.5% of its flights (323 cancellations), while Vietnam Airlines and Vietravel Airlines canceled 0.7% (438 and 15 cancellations, respectively). VASCO and Pacific Airlines had the highest cancellation rates at 0.9% (31 and 29 cancellations, respectively).

The Vietnamese aviation industry saw growth in the first six months of 2025, with passenger numbers increasing by 9.1% compared to the same period last year, reaching an estimated 59.7 million. International passenger numbers reached 22.9 million, a 12.9% increase, while domestic passenger numbers reached 36.8 million, a 6.9% increase. With continued investment in infrastructure upgrades and expansion, the domestic aviation industry is expected to maintain its recovery and stable growth throughout the latter half of 2025 and into the future.

A Bamboo Airways representative stated that the airline is maintaining stable operations, focusing on high-demand domestic routes to serve passengers during the peak summer travel season.
