Uber Technologies announced on 8/9 that users can now order a variety of electronics, appliances, gaming equipment, and other products from Best Buy directly through the Uber Eats app. Eligible orders will qualify for free delivery with an Uber One membership.
"Through this partnership, Uber Eats and Best Buy are making it easier for customers to access the latest technology, whether it's for essential needs or entertainment," said Hashim Amin, head of Uber's North American retail and grocery delivery business.
Best Buy is the latest major non-food retailer to leverage Uber's delivery infrastructure, following Home Depot and Dollar General.
In August, Best Buy launched a third-party marketplace, effectively doubling its product catalog. This expansion includes small appliances, seasonal decor, and indoor and outdoor furniture from new brands like Martha Stewart and Beach Camera, with licensed sports merchandise from Fanatics coming soon.
In its second quarter financial report, Best Buy reported revenue of 9.4 billion USD, a 1.6% increase year-over-year. Comparable sales grew 1.1%, primarily driven by computers, gaming, and phone sales. CEO Corie Barry noted that the company has reduced the cost of goods imported from China since March. Despite lowering its financial outlook in the first quarter, the company maintained its full-year forecast after the second quarter results, thanks to strategic adjustments in response to tariff policies.
