The transition to new energy vehicles in the transportation sector presents new requirements for the knowledge and skills of those directly behind the wheel. According to a BYD NEG representative, for high-intensity, continuous operation like taxis, a proper understanding of batteries, charging, operational characteristics, and in-car technologies directly impacts operational efficiency and safety during use.

Responding to this need, BYD NEG, a distributor and retailer of oto, collaborated with Vinasun to organize a training program on electric vehicle operation and technical handling on 26/8 at 648 Nguyen Trai, TP HCM. Approximately 200 Vinasun drivers participated in direct training with BYD NEG's expert team. The program was attended by Nguyen Van Mac, Deputy General Director of Operations for Vinasun Taxi, a BYD NEG representative, and leaders from relevant departments of both entities.
According to the company, the training content focused on practical situations drivers might encounter during daily electric vehicle use, rather than theoretical product knowledge. The BYD NEG team directly guided drivers in identifying common charging types, the characteristics of each charging method, and how to choose the appropriate form for their operational needs.
Content related to energy management, battery capacity monitoring, operational characteristics, and how to handle certain technical situations was also specifically discussed during the program.

Three BYD models—the Sealion 6, M6, and Dolphin—were brought by BYD NEG to the program to enhance the visual aspect of the training. Drivers could directly learn about the features, safety technology, and operational characteristics of each model, thereby recognizing key differences to note when transitioning from internal combustion engine vehicles to new energy vehicles.
The company reported that the practical discussion session received active participation from drivers, with questions revolving around charging methods, battery management, feature usage, and potential operational situations. Q&A sessions, mini-games, and gifts were integrated to make technical knowledge more accessible.
"When electric vehicles are put into high-intensity transportation operations, the story extends beyond choosing a suitable vehicle. The direct operators need to understand the vehicle, know how to charge, manage energy, and correctly handle situations that may arise in practice," a BYD NEG representative stated. "Programs like this also help us receive direct feedback from drivers, allowing our support activities to better align with actual operational needs."
BYD NEG affirmed that supporting customers and partners in training, technical aspects, and operations is an important part of integrating new energy vehicles into use.

From the perspective of a transportation company, Nguyen Van Mac, Deputy General Director of Operations for Vinasun Taxi, noted that the shift to electric vehicles entails changes greater than just replacing vehicles. It requires drivers and related departments to adapt to new technology, operational methods, and new requirements in customer service.
"Electric vehicles have different characteristics than internal combustion engine vehicles. Operational methods, acceleration capabilities, regenerative braking, energy management, battery capacity monitoring, charging methods, and handling technical situations all need to be mastered. Therefore, the driving team and related departments need to understand correctly, use properly, and gradually master the new technology," Nguyen Van Mac shared.
According to Vinasun, as passenger demands increase, modern vehicles must be accompanied by quality service, safety, and the driver's mastery of technology. This training is a preparatory step for the company to gradually integrate electric vehicles into actual transportation operations.
Through its collaboration with Vinasun, BYD NEG will continue to expand its role from product provision to supporting the training and operation of new energy vehicles. This is also the direction the company is pursuing to help customers and partners access electric vehicles more practically, contributing to promoting the green transition in passenger transportation in Vietnam.
