This service combines multiple solutions into a single process: consolidation in Mexico, cross-border transportation, customs brokerage, and bonded warehousing. It integrates with the region's largest carrier network and AI-powered optimization technology to ensure fast and efficient delivery throughout the US and Canada.
Jay Cornmesser, C.H. Robinson's vice president of Mexico cross-border services, offered an example: "Imagine a car seat assembly company in the US importing foam, fabric, wiring, motors, and switches from five different suppliers in Mexico. These five items typically travel on five separate trucks, across the border via five different carriers, before being consolidated for delivery to the plant or warehouse. This results in higher costs for multiple shipments and wasted space on each truck."

According to Ben Bidwell, the company's senior director of customs, a key benefit of the service is increased visibility of import shipments, along with tariff reduction. He believes that in a supply chain environment tightened by new and higher tariffs, the cross-border consolidation service can alleviate pressure.
"We can ship goods under bond, meaning they enter the US through a bonded warehouse to defer duties, improve cash flow, and potentially eliminate duties altogether if the goods continue to Canada. Because automotive parts and components are the top commodity crossing the Mexico border, this service is especially appealing to automotive supply chains facing 50% tariffs on items containing steel or aluminum," he emphasized.
C.H. Robinson, headquartered in the US, is one of the world's largest logistics providers, offering multimodal transportation solutions, supply chain management, and customs brokerage to tens of thousands of global customers.
