COGAS launches LNG supply system in Da Nang

The liquefied natural gas supply system receives, stores, vaporizes, and supplies stable gas, integrating automated control, safety, and international-standard maintenance and repair services.

On 16/8/2025, Cai Mep Gas and Chemicals Joint Stock Company (COGAS) inaugurated and put into operation an LNG supply system for the Dong Tam - Mien Trung Brick Factory in the Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park, Da Nang. This marks a significant milestone, as the LNG supply equipment was entirely researched and manufactured by Vietnamese engineers, opening a new chapter for the domestic gas industry.

The COGAS LNG supply system includes a 100 m3 LNG storage tank and an intermediate fluid vaporizer (IFV), both researched and manufactured by the company's project engineers. This equipment operates on the principle of intermediate fluid and water vaporization, enabling faster and more stable LNG vaporization from -162 degrees Celsius to normal temperature and pressure, regardless of weather conditions, with low operating costs (electricity and water). The cold gas generated during the vaporization process in the IFV system can be recovered and reused for cooling purposes, further enhancing overall energy efficiency.

Having Vietnamese engineers research and manufacture the LNG supply equipment not only saves on equipment and technology import costs, but also affirms the country's self-reliance in high technology. This is a crucial step for Vietnamese businesses to participate more deeply in the global LNG supply chain while promoting the goal of clean and sustainable energy development.

Lam Van Thanh, COGAS project director, shared that the company wants to demonstrate that Vietnamese people can master LNG technology, from research and manufacturing to mass production of equipment with quality comparable to international products. "For COGAS, mastering this technology helps us gain customer trust in providing comprehensive services, including equipment, technical solutions, maintenance, repairs, and a stable gas supply," he said.

Dong Tam - Mien Trung Brick Factory is one of COGAS's first customers in Vietnam to use LNG sourced from the Thi Vai LNG terminal of PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PVGas), transported by rail and road. This is the first step in the strategy to expand the LNG market to the north-central region, where the potential for industrial LNG consumption is rapidly growing.

LNG (liquefied natural gas) is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly energy solution widely used globally in power generation, metal production, construction materials, food processing, textiles, and other industries. With its large storage capacity and significant reduction in harmful emissions, LNG plays a vital role in Vietnam's Net Zero emissions target.
