The bunkering operation was carried out by China Marine Bunker (PetroChina), a subsidiary of Cosco Shipping. 500 tons of domestically produced green methanol was supplied to the dual-fuel container ship Cosco Shipping Yangpu, China's first vessel utilizing methanol dual-fuel technology.
This marks the first time the port of Dalian has offered bonded green methanol bunkering services for international vessels, strengthening its role in the green maritime fuel supply chain in Northeast Asia.
The green methanol was sourced entirely from China's largest production facilities in Heilongjiang province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The 366-meter Cosco Shipping Yangpu, with a maximum capacity of 16,136 TEU, primarily operates on trans-Pacific routes.
Following methanol bunkering operations at three key ports – Dalian (north), Yangshan - Shanghai (east), and Yangpu - Hainan (south) – Cosco Shipping has established a domestic green methanol supply network spanning the length of China. This network is a cornerstone of the corporation's long-term emissions reduction strategy and offers a sustainable solution for the global shipping industry.
