Danish ambassador and Carlsberg Vietnam meet with Hue city leaders

Danish ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz and Carlsberg Vietnam leaders affirmed their commitment to long-term cooperation and sustainable development during a visit and meeting with the Hue People's Committee.

The event, which took place on 21/7, strengthened the bilateral relationship between Denmark and Vietnam. It also enhanced the connection between local authorities and the Danish business community, aiming for comprehensive and inclusive growth that creates tangible value for the community. Carlsberg Vietnam, a Danish corporation, has been a pioneering investor in Vietnam since the early 1990s. After more than 30 years of development, the company has become one of the country's leading beer producers.

Business development goes hand in hand with social responsibility.

Central Vietnam, and Hue city in particular, plays a crucial role for Carlsberg Vietnam. It is a strategic production center and the birthplace of the Huda beer brand, a drink that has become a "culinary symbol" and integral to the lives of local people for many years.

A notable milestone in Carlsberg's development journey in Vietnam is the Phu Bai brewery in Hue, which has just completed its expansion and will officially open at the end of August. This is Carlsberg's largest brewery in Asia and among its most productive globally.

Andrew Khan, General Director of Carlsberg Vietnam, stated that Vietnam is one of Carlsberg's strategic markets in Asia and globally. "With Hue, we not only have a long-term presence but also a deep connection based on shared values and a sustainable development orientation. We always value our deep cooperation with local authorities and are committed to continuing to contribute positively to the long-term development of the region," he said.

In addition to production activities, the company actively participates in many community activities. In 2025, the company continues to support various cultural, sports, and social programs in Hue. Notably, Carlsberg Vietnam is a diamond sponsor of Hue Festival 2025, a four-year consecutive partner of the VnExpress Marathon Hue, provides annual Tet gifts to disadvantaged people, and supports community sports tournaments.

This summer, the "Huda Ice Twist: Endless Summer Fun" event attracted more than 20,000 live attendees and 6.5 million online views. Besides providing a vibrant summer experience for the community, the event was also an occasion for Carlsberg Vietnam to celebrate 35 years of Huda's connection with Central Vietnam.

In 2025, the company continues its long-term social responsibility program, "Clean Water Sources for Beloved Central Vietnam." Since 2019, the program has brought clean water to nearly 40,000 people, improving their quality of life and promoting sustainable community development.

"From creating quality products to initiatives that bring clean water to the community, all our activities are directed towards a consistent goal: responsible business development and spreading positive values to the local communities where we operate and serve," Mr. Khan added.

Working together to build a sustainable future.

The Danish ambassador's visit to the Hue People's Committee not only reinforced the bilateral cooperative relationship but also demonstrated Denmark's commitment to promoting responsible business models and sustainable development in Vietnam.

Ambassador Nicolai Prytz noted that Carlsberg Vietnam is a leading Danish company in Vietnam, clearly demonstrating the Danish business spirit: emphasizing long-term cooperation, community engagement, and sustainable development. "The partnership between businesses and local authorities is a testament to a shared vision for a future of comprehensive growth," he said. He also affirmed that Denmark will continue to support companies like Carlsberg in contributing to Vietnam's green transition through innovation, extensive cooperation, and understanding local development priorities.

As Hue becomes a centrally-administered city and Vietnam accelerates its nationwide green transition, Carlsberg Vietnam is committed to continuing this journey.

"We are present in Vietnam not only for beer production but also for a long-term commitment to sustainable development, where businesses are deeply connected with the community and together cultivate meaningful progress," Mr. Khan emphasized.
