De Heus acquires CJ Feed & Care, expands presence in Asia

With the completion of the CJ Feed & Care acquisition, De Heus adds 17 feed mills in Asia, expanding its regional production network.

The acquisition was finalized on 3/3 in Ede, Netherlands. According to a representative from Royal De Heus Group, this event marks a significant milestone in its long-term development strategy and reaffirms its commitment to supporting livestock farmers across Asia.

Specifically, the deal strengthens the group's presence in markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia, while also expanding into South Korea and the Philippines. Through this acquisition, De Heus takes over a total of 17 feed mills and various activities within the livestock value chain throughout the region.

Gabor Fluit, the group's chief executive officer, stated that combining CJ Feed & Care's expertise and customer network with De Heus's over a century of experience in animal nutrition and farm management will create new growth momentum for the region. "Together, we will build a future where farmers and their communities can thrive, contributing to the long-term, sustainable development of the animal protein sector," he said.

Johan van den Ban, chief executive officer of De Heus Vietnam and Asia, affirmed that Vietnam remains a key market in the group's regional strategy. The acquisition reinforces De Heus's commitment to supporting Vietnam's livestock industry and enhances its capacity to provide integrated solutions, from feed and breeding stock to farm services and financial support. "De Heus partners with farmers, dealers, investors, and partners such as Topigs Norsvin, Bel Ga, Orvia, and Hung Nhon Group to invest in the agri-food value chain. This ensures the supply of high-quality breeding stock and promotes regulatory compliance and environmental friendliness in the region," Johan van den Ban added.

Sustainable development originates from livestock farms. The combined experience and expertise of De Heus and CJ Feed & Care are expected to help local farmers professionalize production processes, improving efficiency and profitability. The group also emphasizes the importance of long-term partnerships with farmers, distributors, and partners, alongside support from local governments in developing the livestock industry.

To support farmers, the group focuses on connecting partners across the entire animal protein value chain. Through strategic collaborations, the company invests in grandparent and great-grandparent pig and poultry breeding farms in various Asian countries, facilitating customer access to high-quality breeding stock. This initiative aims to increase productivity, farming efficiency, and the industry's competitiveness in its operating markets.

Additionally, the company develops integrated solutions including genetics, breeding stock, feed, and support services in nutrition, technical assistance, and veterinary care. Concurrently, De Heus prioritizes market access support for livestock, eggs, fish, and milk through partnerships with slaughterhouses, processing companies, and traders. Collaborations with partner banks also help create additional financial products for farmers.

De Heus is a Netherlands-based animal nutrition group, founded in 1911. The company operates in animal feed, breeding stock, and technical solutions for the livestock industry. The group is currently present in over 20 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, with an extensive network of production facilities and distribution systems. Since entering the Vietnamese market in 2008, De Heus Vietnam has acquired many feed brands and established a modern production facility system nationwide.
