DP World Callao has achieved a record throughput of over 2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in one year. This represents a 22% increase compared to 2023, a period before the Bicentennial Pier became operational, and underscores the port's growing capacity to meet Peru's increasing trade demands. In 2024, the port processed 1.96 million TEUs.

Carlos Merino, CEO of DP World in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, highlighted the significance of this achievement. "A decade ago, 2 million TEUs represented the total throughput of all ports in Peru," Merino stated. "Today, this volume has been achieved by a single port, showcasing the impact of strategic investment in modern port infrastructure on national trade capabilities and global supply chain positioning."
This success is largely due to the Bicentennial Pier, a 400 million USD investment project that boosted the port's operational capacity by 80%. The expansion allows DP World Callao to accommodate larger vessels, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing congestion. This prepares the port to handle increasing trade volumes and improves service reliability.
The achievement reflects sustained infrastructure investment, capacity expansion, and improved operational efficiency, solidifying Callao's position as a leading regional logistics hub. The South Pier, operated by DP World, has contributed over 316 million USD to Peru's GDP.
As of November 2025, Callao port handled 55.8% of Peru's total agricultural exports, with 35.2% passing through DP World. Key export items include: avocados, grapes, blueberries, mandarins, and mangoes, integrating Peru's agricultural products deeper into the global food supply chain.
DP World Callao, a major container port in Peru, is one of the most important logistics gateways on the west coast of South America. It is invested in and operated by the UAE-based DP World group. Located in Callao Bay, near the capital Lima, the port plays a central role in Peru's imports and exports, connecting the region with trans-Pacific shipping routes. DP World began operating Callao in 2010 and has continuously expanded its infrastructure, including the modern Bicentennial Pier. Through significant investment and optimized operations, Callao has become a key transit point for regional agricultural products and containers.
