Initially, this weekly shipping service expects to transport approximately 6,7 million eggs each month. As the cold chain corridor expands and stabilizes, DP World anticipates annual volumes could reach up to 450 million eggs.
According to DP World, eggs will be transported in refrigerated containers through the logistics group's global network of ports and transit hubs. Internationally certified cold storage systems and continuous temperature monitoring will ensure the eggs remain fresh throughout transit.
"Eggs are highly perishable, but with the right combination of technology, expertise, and global infrastructure, we can transport them safely and efficiently on an intercontinental scale", said Kris Adams, DP World's executive vice president for Eastern Europe.
