Eleven TH milk and beverage products achieve carbon neutrality

Eleven TH Group milk and beverage products have been certified as carbon neutral by international inspection body Control Union, following the principle of reducing emissions first, then offsetting.

These carbon-neutral products from TH include seven items from the TH True Nut nut milk line, three from the TH True Oat oat milk line, and one TH True Milk TopKid Organic – 180ml natural vanilla flavored pasteurized fresh milk. International inspection body Control Union confirmed these products achieved carbon neutrality according to international standard ISO 14068-1:2023, based on the principle of reducing emissions first, then offsetting.

The products are manufactured at the TH true MILK Fresh Dairy Processing Plant, operated by TH Milk Joint Stock Company. This company is one of two TH Group member entities that achieved carbon neutrality in 2023 and 2024, committing to maintain carbon neutrality in subsequent years with the goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050. The other entity is Nui Tien Pure Water Company Limited.

A TH representative stated that the carbon neutrality certification for the 11 products was granted in February this year. It is based on a reporting period from 1/1/2024 to 31/12/2024 and a commitment for the next reporting period.

The assessment scope for the report covers the entire process from raw material input to the product leaving the factory gate (cradle-to-gate). This includes key emission sources within the value chain: raw materials, farm operations, production, packaging, material transportation, energy consumption at the factory, and related factors before the product exits the facility.

This international carbon neutrality certification for the 11 products is a result of integrating international standards for carbon footprint transparency into the production value chain. Based on the calculated product carbon footprint, TH Milk Joint Stock Company implemented emission reduction measures in production, optimized energy use, improved operational efficiency, and progressively managed emissions throughout the supply chain.

Specifically, at its farms and factories, TH deployed integrated emission reduction solutions. These include reducing methane emissions in livestock farming, waste treatment, expanding solar power use, adopting an energy management system compliant with ISO 50001:2018, transitioning to electric vehicles, using environmentally friendly packaging, and increasing green spaces. Simultaneously, TH promotes emission reduction across the entire supply chain by prioritizing local raw materials and collaborating with low-emission suppliers.

Through these comprehensive greening efforts from production to supply chain, TH Group aims to spread the message of responsible consumption and foster a sense of sustainable development for future generations. This aligns with a growing trend where consumers not only seek products that are delicious, clean, safe, and healthy, but also prioritize those produced through environmentally responsible processes.

Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Thuy, Sustainability Development Director of TH Group, stated that the 11 carbon-neutral products are specific TH lines. These products allow for product lifecycle analysis, which helps evaluate greenhouse gas emission reduction roadmaps, aiming for Net Zero.

These product lines also represent a growing trend of healthier consumption. This includes balanced nutrition combined with nuts, oat-based drinks suitable for a green lifestyle, and organic, all-natural nutritional products for children.

"With our carbon-neutral certified products, we aim to promote responsible consumption, especially among customers who prioritize health, the environment, and quality of life, while also raising awareness about sustainable development", Ms. Thuy added.

TH's announcement of product-level carbon neutrality certification occurs as Vietnam encourages businesses to measure, report, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Starting in early 2026, the Climate Change Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is piloting a voluntary carbon labeling program. This program aims to encourage businesses to disclose their product carbon footprints, promote green consumption, and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods.

TH has implemented carbon footprint assessment and product carbon neutrality according to ISO 14068-1:2023, confirmed by an international certification body.

According to the company, this initiative continues its philosophy of "Cherishing Mother Nature" and its direction to build a green value chain. This spans from a closed-loop production model, from grass to glass, to quality management, efficient energy use, renewable energy development, resource management, and emission reduction in the supply chain.

TH leaders stated that the company will continue to maintain a cyclical system for measuring, managing, and reducing emissions, while expanding solutions at its factories, farms, and supply chain. The Group will focus on controlling indirect emission sources from raw materials, packaging, and transportation, thereby progressively contributing to the net zero emissions target by 2050.
