The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motorsports and the federation representing worldwide mobility and motoring organizations, has announced a strategic partnership with logistics company DHL, focusing on sustainability. The announcement was made during a press conference at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, attended by leaders in motorsports and sustainable development.
This agreement marks the launch of the "FIA Global Partnership Programme," which aims to collaborate with leading organizations that share a vision for innovation, sustainability, and safety in both motorsports and transportation.

DHL has been the logistics partner of Formula 1 (F1) since 2004 and recently renewed its multi-year contract in 2024. This new partnership expands DHL's role beyond F1. The company will be responsible for transporting, installing, and maintaining critical FIA infrastructure at F1, F2, and F3 races. This includes mobile offices, garages, and other essential equipment for race organization and operations.
"Partnering with DHL is a great opportunity not only to ensure efficient logistics at our races but also to jointly promote sustainable practices throughout the industry. The FIA has made sustainability a priority and is constantly integrating this thinking into how we operate, including in our commercial relationships," said Craig Edmondson, Chief Commercial Officer of the FIA.
Both parties are committed to improving operational efficiency at FIA events and reducing carbon emissions throughout the season. DHL will help the FIA create a more geographically optimized race calendar, shortening travel distances between races and creating opportunities for lower-emission transport options.
For example, moving the Canadian Grand Prix to a later date allows for a more continuous European season, minimizing intercontinental travel.
DHL will also deploy 7 trucks using hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) biofuel for logistics in Europe. This fuel reduces emissions by up to 83% compared to traditional fuels.
"Becoming the FIA's global logistics partner is a great honor for us. Our relationship extends beyond the racetrack. We share core values such as safety, quality, speed, and precision, and especially a commitment to sustainable development," said Paul Fowler, Head of Global Motorsports Logistics at DHL.
According to Fowler, both parties are leading the way in promoting alternative energy sources and advanced operating technologies to reduce emissions, along with restructuring the race calendar by region.
