The Gia Lai Tax Department issued a notice on 3/9 to the Immigration Department, under the Ministry of Public Security, announcing a temporary travel ban for Le Thai Sam.

According to the notice, Sam is identified as the "beneficial owner" of Bamboo Airways Joint Stock Company. The airline's total tax debt to the Gia Lai Tax Department reached over VND 440.6 billion as of 3/9.

The department urged Bamboo Airways to settle its outstanding tax debt through the national public service portal to revoke the travel ban on Le Thai Sam.

Sam joined Bamboo Airways in 2022, quickly becoming its largest shareholder. He served as chairman of the board of directors from 7/2023 to 2/2024, then as permanent vice chairman.

In 8/2025, Sam returned as chairman of Bamboo Airways' board of directors. About one month later, his investor group transferred control of the airline to FLC Group. At that time, Sam stated that continuing to own, manage, and operate Bamboo Airways exceeded his investor group's financial and managerial capacity.

The businessman also committed to taking responsibility for Bamboo Airways' performance during its restructuring phase. In mid-11/2025, Sam resigned as chairman but remained a member of the airline's board of directors.

Currently, Sam also serves as general director and legal representative for Bamboo Airways Cargo Joint Stock Company and several other Bamboo Airways-related businesses.

After nearly one year under FLC's management, Bamboo Airways faces significant difficulties, operating only one aircraft. The airline has also suspended numerous domestic scheduled routes.
