Gamuda Land and Samsung partner to develop smart cities

The two companies will collaborate on researching, developing, and applying technology to Gamuda Land's real estate projects, aiming to build smart cities.

Gamuda Land Vietnam (GLVN) and Samsung Vina (Samsung) signed an agreement at the end of August. Gamuda Land Vietnam will allocate residential and commercial real estate for Samsung's projects, becoming a strategic partner in testing and deploying technological solutions in the Vietnamese market.

Samsung, with its strengths in technology, engineering, R&D, and training, will support the real estate company with technical aspects, organizing seminars, and providing personnel and equipment for smart city project implementation. Samsung's policy also allows it to provide products, solutions, and services at competitive prices to Gamuda Land Vietnam.

The two sides will collaborate to research and explore new technological needs in the Vietnamese real estate sector, marketing and promoting the benefits, feasibility, and practical applications of smart solutions.

Mr. Angus Liew, Chairman of the Members' Council of Gamuda Land Vietnam, stated that the company's goal is to develop living spaces that endure over time. Therefore, the developer focuses on sustainability in planning and design. Samsung helps the company realize its sustainable lifestyle goals through technologies like AI and smart, eco-friendly home appliances.

"We continue to push the boundaries of innovation in sustainable living. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to creating smart, efficient homes that meet the needs of modern consumers," Mr. Liew said.

Representing Samsung, Mr. Hyung Bin Joo, General Director of Samsung Vina, said that the corporation has a diverse ecosystem of technology and devices capable of enhancing the quality of life in partner projects. "The partnership with Gamuda Land Vietnam is an opportunity for us to introduce and widely apply technological solutions to real life, from smart homes to urban management systems," Mr. Hyung affirmed.

According to representatives from both sides, this partnership marks the beginning of a smart city development strategy in Vietnam. In 2024, Gamuda Land partnered with Samsung Malaysia Electronics to equip The Camellia show unit at Gamuda Cove with the Samsung Bespoke AI ecosystem. This precedent creates confidence for the company to continue implementation in Vietnam.

Gamuda Land is the property development arm of Gamuda Berhad, a leading Malaysian engineering, property, and infrastructure company. Since entering the Vietnamese market in 2007, the company has become one of the top 5 foreign real estate developers in Vietnam, with master-planned townships focused on sustainability and community living. The company currently has 8 projects in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Hai Phong.

Samsung has strengths in fields ranging from TVs, digital signage, smartphones, wearables, tablets, home appliances, network systems to memory, LSI systems, and semiconductors. The giant has also entered the race in medical imaging technologies, HVAC solutions, and robotics.
