Gold bar prices jump one million dong

Vietnam's gold bar prices surged by one million dong today, reaching 142,5 million dong per tael, mirroring an upward trend in the international market.

On the morning of 30/7, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed gold bar prices at 138,5 million dong for buying and 142,5 million dong for selling. This marks a one million dong increase compared to yesterday's closing prices. The spread between buying and selling prices remained around 4 million dong.

Plain gold rings also saw similar price hikes. SJC raised its prices to 138 - 142 million dong. PNJ listed this item around 137,5 - 142,4 million dong per tael. Meanwhile, Bao Tin Minh Chau and Bao Tin Manh Hai traded plain gold rings at approximately 139,6 - 143,5 million dong.

Domestic gold prices today rose in tandem with the international market. At the close of trading on 29/7, the world gold price increased by 37 USD to 4,065 USD per ounce.

Converted at Vietcombank's exchange rate, the global price of this precious metal is equivalent to nearly 130 million dong. This means domestic gold is currently 12,5 million dong higher than international gold prices.

The gold market reacted positively after the US Federal Reserve (Fed) decided to keep its reference interest rates unchanged. This decision led to a weakening of the US dollar, making gold more affordable for buyers outside the US.

However, experts from TD Securities caution that gold prices are unlikely to sustain this upward momentum for an extended period. The analysis team stated, "This precious metal will likely retreat to the 3,900 USD per ounce range as oil prices continue to rise throughout the summer".

Domestic silver bar prices experienced a slight decrease of 0,3% today. Phu Quy, DOJI, and Ancarat traded silver bars at 2,1 - 2,2 million dong per tael, equivalent to 56,9 - 58,7 per kg.

Meanwhile, USD exchange rates at banks continued to climb today. Vietcombank increased its USD price to 26.105 - 26.510 dong, up 5 dong from yesterday. BIDV traded the greenback at 26.140 - 26.520 dong, while Eximbank's rates were 26.100 - 26.490 dong.
