Hermes set to open new store in Hanoi

The French fashion brand's new store is scheduled to open in January at 24 Trang Tien.

The new Hermes store is located near the Grand Opera House and other historical architectural landmarks in the capital city. A representative for the brand in Vietnam stated that Hermes chose Trang Tien street, a thoroughfare with a long-standing cultural and commercial history in Hanoi, to connect the brand's image with a heritage space. This area is also a hub for many luxury brands, often chosen by international labels when entering or expanding their market presence.

Currently, the building's facade draws attention with an artistic hoarding board, a collaboration between Hermes and Vietnamese artist Tuyp Tran. The artwork combines familiar Hermes symbols with details evoking Hanoi's culture, such as ceramic balconies, potted plants, and imagery inspired by the legend of "returning the sword" (a Vietnamese legend where a magical sword is returned to a golden turtle in Hoan Kiem Lake).

According to a Hermes Vietnam representative, the central location at 24 Trang Tien also connects to a number of special significance in the brand's history.

In 1880, Charles-Emile Hermes relocated his family's saddle-making workshop to 24 Faubourg Saint-Honore, Paris, France. This address has been integral to Hermes' development for over a century and remains the brand's iconic headquarters today.

Over time, 24 Faubourg Saint-Honore became more than just a business address; it symbolized Hermes' core values: craftsmanship, precision, and sustainability. The number "24" frequently appears in the brand's important milestones across various markets.
