The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City recently established a task force comprised of various city department leaders and experts from universities, research institutes, and businesses. Dr. Truong Minh Huy Vu, director of the City Development Research Institute, leads the group.

The task force will advise on strategies and roadmaps for the city's green transition, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. They will also develop plans and propose solutions for implementing green economy initiatives.
The group will formulate a green transition plan for Ho Chi Minh City, incorporating its projected merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau by 2030, with a vision towards 2050. They will also organize discussions, seminars, and training sessions related to the city's green policies.
Ho Chi Minh City has tasked the group with establishing international collaborations on green transition with strategic partners. They will coordinate with relevant units to communicate green transition policies and provide regular or ad-hoc reports on the implementation of plans and programs.
Ho Chi Minh City has identified green growth as a key strategy for sustainable development. The city aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 10% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The city is currently undertaking several green transition projects in Can Gio, including transitioning from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles.
