Hoa Phat plans to inject an additional 20 trillion VND into Dung Quat railway steel project

Hoa Phat aims to invest an extra 20 trillion VND to expand its railway steel and special steel production project within the Dung Quat economic zone.

On the morning of august 8, Quang Ngai chairman Nguyen Duc Tam and a provincial delegation met with Hoa Phat Group to review operations and the progress of its projects in the Dung Quat economic zone.

Hoa Phat's leadership stated that the group has secured investment approval and is currently implementing seven projects in Dung Quat. These projects represent a total capital of 194 trillion VND, utilizing approximately 710 hectares of land, primarily in steel production with an annual capacity of 12,8 million tons.

In the coming time, Hoa Phat proposes expanding its railway steel and special steel production project in the Dung Quat economic zone by an additional 77 hectares, increasing capacity by two million tons. The estimated capital investment for this expansion is expected to rise by approximately 20 trillion VND.

Furthermore, the group, led by billionaire Tran Dinh Long, also plans to invest in new projects: the Binh Hoa - Binh Phuoc industrial park infrastructure (436 hectares), berths four and five of the Dung Quat general-container port (21 hectares), and the Ferro industrial park (179 hectares), requiring a total land fund of about 636 hectares.

Several Hoa Phat projects face challenges related to site clearance, resettlement, land, planning, and investment procedures. Consequently, the company has requested the province to direct relevant units and localities to approve compensation plans, expedite site clearance, and finalize land lease procedures for projects like the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 iron and steel complex and the Hoa Phat Dung Quat general-container port.

For the railway steel and special steel production project, Hoa Phat has asked the province to promptly adjust the subdivision planning for the eastern Dung Quat industrial park to include a coal gas pipeline for production. Concurrently, the group seeks to complete procedures for temporarily leasing 5,3 hectares of cleared land in Van Tuong commune for material and equipment staging. This would enable Hoa Phat to implement all project components simultaneously, ensuring the project begins operation from early Quarter I/2027.

Quang Ngai chairman Nguyen Duc Tam affirmed Hoa Phat as a strategic investor for the province. He stated that Quang Ngai consistently supports, accompanies, and facilitates Hoa Phat in implementing investment projects within the area.

He instructed relevant departments, agencies, and localities to thoroughly review each difficulty and obstacle raised by Hoa Phat. Issues exceeding their authority will be submitted to the provincial People's Committee (UBND) for consideration and resolution.
