The Insurance Supervisory Authority (ISA) under the Ministry of Finance reported that as of 11 a.m. on 22/7, insurance companies anticipate paying approximately 14.3 billion dong to the victims.
Specifically, non-life insurance is expected to cover around 4.2 billion dong. This includes 1.2 billion dong for the shipowner's liability insurance for passengers and crew accident insurance (Bao Long); 2 billion dong for passenger accident insurance (Bao Viet co-insured with PTI, MIC, and BSH); and 1 billion dong for credit insurance (AAA).
Life insurance payouts are estimated at 10.07 billion dong, including Bao Viet (2 billion dong), Generali (4.2 billion dong), Manulife (3.02 billion dong), Dai-ichi (0.7 billion dong), Prudential (0.1 billion dong), and AIA (0.05 billion dong).
"Insurance companies have proactively contacted the families of the victims to process compensation and insurance payments," the ISA stated.
However, according to information from the companies, the victims and their families have not yet completed the procedures to receive insurance benefits as they are undergoing treatment for injuries or handling funeral arrangements.
Other insurance companies continue to review customer information and will promptly carry out procedures for compensation and insurance payments (if any), according to the ISA.
