Entering the year-end shopping season with a series of discount events, logistics companies often face immense pressure. Even a small operational hiccup can delay millions of orders. To ensure smooth operations, Phan Binh, Branding Director of J&T Express Vietnam, said the company has invested in 315 new trucks, a strategic move to strengthen its transportation capacity during the peak period.

"The new vehicles help increase payload utilization, shorten transit times, and reduce reliance on outsourced resources, especially on inter-provincial routes," he said. Moreover, all vehicles are equipped with a smart positioning and route management system, ensuring on-time delivery, a core element of the "deliver on time - receive completely" commitment.
In parallel, J&T Express has also commissioned new transit centers in key areas, such as the one in Hanoi with an area of 38,000 m2, 23 inbound gates, and 150 outbound gates. The center has dozens of conveyor belts and modern goods handling areas with layers of control using DWS machine systems integrated with automatic barcode scanning, weighing, and dimensioning. This ensures optimal service for large volumes of goods, meeting customer needs, even during peak periods. This new capacity helps reduce the load on cross-regional routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi and improves processing efficiency in the North, which is witnessing a boom in e-commerce orders.

Binh said this entire investment plan is designed to serve the "golden season" of the logistics industry from September to the end of Quarter IV, including major sales events on 9/9, 10/10, 11/11, and 12/12. "We clearly recognize the enormous pressure of increasing orders during this period, and only with sufficient infrastructure and technology can we ensure uninterrupted operations," he emphasized.
Regarding technology, J&T is deploying an AI system to predict order flow in real-time and optimize vehicle routes, while completing the transition to a centralized operating system. This system synchronizes warehouses, transit centers, and delivery staff. "Infrastructure only reaches its full potential when combined with appropriate technology," Binh added.

According to Binh, the biggest motivation for J&T Express's expansion before the year-end shopping season comes from years of experience: during every major sale, the number of orders increases by an average of 20% compared to regular months. Notably, events like Double 11 or 12/12 not only attract orders from large platforms but also from numerous small and medium-sized enterprises and online shops in both urban and remote areas.
The director emphasized that upgrading infrastructure and technology is not only aimed at meeting operational demands but also demonstrates the brand's commitment. "A strong operating system will directly improve customer satisfaction (CSAT) and strengthen J&T Express's reputation. This is a key factor for us to maintain our position as a reliable partner for e-commerce platforms and brands of all sizes in Vietnam," he shared.
Remarkably, the company's expansion plan is not limited to urban centers. The company is deploying more connecting routes and pick-up points in districts, communes, and remote islands, enabling SMEs and small shops to access high-standard logistics services at more reasonable costs. "Every time we open a new route or a pick-up point, it's not just about operations, but about expanding business opportunities for remote sellers," Binh said.
In terms of communication, Binh said J&T Express will focus on demonstrating its ability to respond flexibly even when order volumes increase significantly, while conveying the message of accompanying businesses through every peak season. "We don't just transport goods, we transport trust," he said.
With a synchronized investment strategy in vehicles, infrastructure, and technology, the company aims not only to overcome the pressure of the year-end peak season but also to raise the standard of logistics services in Vietnam, accompanying the development of e-commerce and the digital economy.
According to a report by Vietnam Investment Review, Vietnam's e-commerce market surpassed 25 billion USD in 2024, a 20% increase compared to 2023, becoming one of the three largest markets in Southeast Asia. This growth rate has led to unprecedented pressure on the logistics system, especially during peak shopping seasons.
On Double 11, 2024 alone, the global J&T Express system processed over 100 million orders in just 24 hours, and the number of orders in Southeast Asia increased by 73% compared to the same period last year (PR Newswire, 2024). J&T Express's internal data also shows that during major sales seasons like 9/9 or 11/11 in recent years, order volumes have always increased by at least 20% compared to regular months, requiring the company to prepare infrastructure and technology very early if it wants to operate smoothly.
