JD Logistics launches express delivery service in Saudi Arabia

JD Logistics expands its presence in the Middle East with a self-operated logistics ecosystem, enhancing delivery quality and promoting industry development.

JD Logistics, the logistics arm of Chinese retail giant JD.com, has launched its self-operated express delivery service, JoyExpress, in Saudi Arabia. The service offers same-day or next-day delivery with a professional, uniformed delivery team, door-to-door service, and options like cash on delivery.

With its closed-loop operating model, JoyExpress not only ensures reliable last-mile delivery but also contributes to job creation and promotes the development of the local logistics industry. JD Logistics is building a network of warehouses, transit and sorting centers, and delivery stations across the kingdom. The company is also recruiting and training local personnel, including delivery staff, drivers, warehouse workers, and customer service representatives. In addition to express delivery, the company provides efficient end-to-end supply chain solutions for businesses.

JoyExpress offers several value-added services, such as address changes, temporary storage, scheduled delivery, return pick-up, and cargo insurance. The service also supports cross-border transportation, customs clearance, and domestic delivery, facilitating seamless international and domestic trade.

The courier, express, and parcel (CEP) market in Saudi Arabia is experiencing significant growth, driven by a tech-savvy population and the e-commerce boom. According to Mordor Intelligence, this market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.48% between 2025 and 2030, with the B2C segment accounting for 56% of the market value as of 2024.

"JD Logistics' investment aligns perfectly with our national vision of becoming a global logistics hub," said Rayan Albakri, Deputy Minister for Logistics Services at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services. "We welcome the arrival of this modern, self-operated express delivery service and believe it will raise service standards in the Kingdom while creating opportunities for job creation, innovation, and industry development – in line with Vision 2030."

Charlie Peng, Head of the Middle East region at JD Logistics, said the launch of JoyExpress marks an important step in JD.com's internationalization journey and demonstrates its long-term commitment to Saudi Arabia. "We expect JoyExpress to expand throughout the kingdom, providing market-leading delivery and installation services for bulky items, while enhancing specialized supply chain capabilities in areas like fashion, electronics, and fresh food."

With the launch of JoyExpress, JD Logistics has established a complete, self-operated logistics supply chain in the Middle East, encompassing warehousing, transportation, and last-mile delivery. In the future, the company plans to expand its global warehouse network, strengthen international routes, and develop multimodal transport capabilities to better serve customers and partners in the region.

JD Logistics is recognized as a leading global provider of technology-driven logistics services and supply chain solutions, distinguished by its self-built warehousing and delivery network. In China, the company operates over 3,600 warehouses and 19,000 delivery stations, and employs nearly 510,000 frontline personnel, serving over 600 million individual and corporate customers.
