The new route, operational from 29/11, runs one flight weekly between Frankfurt, Germany, and Rome-Fiumicino Airport, Italy, using an Airbus A321F aircraft. The flight lands in Rome in the morning, immediately connecting with the intercontinental route network of ITA Airways—an airline within the same group—to Buenos Aires, Guarulhos, or Rio de Janeiro. This allows cargo to be transported to South America, arriving on Sunday morning.
"This new route offers greater flexibility and additional value payload options for global business operations," Lufthansa Cargo shared on LinkedIn. "Furthermore, our cooperation with ITA Airways now provides direct transport capacity from Rome, not only to South America but also extending to Asia and Africa."

Lufthansa Cargo began marketing cargo capacity on ITA Airways' routes and added Rome as its fifth hub in June. Rome-based ITA Airways became part of the Lufthansa Group earlier this year. The Group initially acquired a 41% stake in the Italian airline and plans to further increase its ownership.
Lufthansa Cargo is gradually taking over the marketing of belly cargo capacity for the Italian airline on all domestic and international routes under its own Air Waybill (AWB) code. By November, the capacity cooperation agreement between the two parties was nearly fully implemented, with the exception of routes to and from the US and Canada.
Currently, ITA shipments are also transported under Lufthansa Cargo's AWB 020 code on flights departing from Rome.
Lufthansa Cargo, a cargo carrier within the Lufthansa Group, Germany, operates a global transport network with a dedicated fleet and belly cargo capacity on passenger flights. The airline provides international logistics solutions, connecting over 300 destinations worldwide through its main hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, and its alliance partners.
