Myanmar president visits VinFast Hai Phong factory

President Min Aung Hlaing and a high-level Myanmar delegation visited the facility to learn about the Vietnamese automobile brand's development story on the afternoon of 4/9.

Pham Nhat Quan Anh, Global CEO of VinFast, welcomed the Myanmar President at the VinFast Hai Phong Manufacturing Complex. He guided President Min Aung Hlaing through the body welding workshop and electric vehicle assembly workshop, showcasing the closed-loop production process, automated production lines, and VinFast's vehicle models.

The Myanmar President expressed his impression with the manufacturing stages at the factory and VinFast's journey to become a domestic market leader and expand globally. According to the Vietnamese automaker, the electric vehicle company currently holds the number one market share in Vietnam for 24 consecutive months and is present in 16 countries, with key markets including: Indonesia, India, Philippines, and North America.

President Min Aung Hlaing's visit to Vietnam occurs as trade turnover between the two nations reached USD 336 million in the first six months of this year, marking a 26% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This visit also provided an opportunity for VinFast to showcase the new achievements of Vietnam's automobile industry, as well as the production capacity and technological mastery of Vietnamese enterprises. This contributes to strengthening connections between the two countries in industrial, commercial, and green transportation sectors.

The Hai Phong factory stands as one of Vietnam's modern automobile manufacturing complexes, serving as a foundation for VinFast's international expansion with a focus on developing a green transportation ecosystem. Previously, the factory has hosted numerous high-level leaders and heads of state during their visits and work in Vietnam, creating opportunities for connection and fostering economic cooperation between Vietnam and other nations.

The Myanmar President paid an official visit to Vietnam from 4-6/9 at the invitation of General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse. This marks his first visit to Vietnam since Myanmar completed its general election in January and formed a new government. It is also the highest-level delegation exchange between the two sides since 2019. Born in 1956, Min Aung Hlaing assumed the role of Myanmar President in April. He previously held numerous positions within the Myanmar military, serving as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces from 2011-2016.
