Nguyen Bach Diep joins top 100 most powerful women in Asia

Nguyen Bach Diep, chairman of the board of directors of FPT Retail, has been named to Fortune magazine's "Fortune most powerful women Asia" list for the first time in 2026.

Fortune announced the list on 6/10, recognizing 100 female leaders influencing business and economic activities across 14 Asian markets. Nguyen Bach Diep is one of 24 individuals making their debut on the list.

According to Fortune, the list was compiled based on five criteria evaluating both corporate and individual aspects: enterprise size and performance, innovation capability, influence, career journey, and societal contributions.

Nguyen Bach Diep joined FPT in 1994 as an unpaid intern, steadily advancing her career and contributing to the formation and development of FPT Retail.

In its recognition profile, Fortune highlighted Nguyen Bach Diep's role in developing Long Chau into FPT Retail's primary growth driver, contributing nearly 70% of the company's revenue in 2025. Fortune also noted her cautious perspective on market fluctuations, particularly as pricing pressures and geopolitical tensions impact spending trends for new technology products.

Building on its technology retail foundation, FPT Retail expanded into healthcare, establishing two business pillars: FPT Shop and Long Chau. This expansion not only created further growth opportunities for the company but also brought FPT Retail closer to meeting the essential needs of the public.

Long Chau currently operates over 2,700 pharmacies and more than 240 vaccination centers across 34 provinces and cities, supported by a team of over 22,000 healthcare professionals. It has become a trusted healthcare provider for over 36 million customers, representing over one-third of Vietnam's population.

Alongside network expansion, the system enhances cooperation with regulatory bodies, hospitals, universities, and pharmaceutical companies. This collaboration aims to improve professional capabilities and expand access to new-generation medicines, rare drugs, and healthcare solutions.

The company continues to advance technology with digital healthcare solutions and a Digital Citizen Station model, in collaboration with C06 - Ministry of Public Security, Ho Chi Minh City Police, and other units. Additionally, through "Long Chau Sharing," numerous community healthcare, screening, vaccination, and first-aid programs are implemented in various localities, helping to bring medical services closer to the public.

In parallel with Long Chau, FPT Shop continues to improve operational efficiency, adjust its product portfolio, and expand product categories and services based on market demand.

In the first six months of the year, FPT Retail achieved 30,743 billion VND in revenue, a 33% increase compared to the same period. Pre-tax profit reached 1,038 billion VND, up 117% year-on-year. Specifically, Long Chau's revenue was 21,448 billion VND, an increase of 33%, while FPT Shop's revenue reached 9,387 billion VND, up 32%.

FPT Retail has also been included in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 for three consecutive years, with its ranking consistently improving from 221st in 2024 to 199th in 2025 and 170th in 2026. The company has also been named to Forbes Vietnam's Top 50 best listed companies in Vietnam for two consecutive years.

With over three decades at FPT and nearly a decade as chairman of the board of directors of FPT Retail, Nguyen Bach Diep has guided the company through multiple transformation phases. Her debut on the Fortune Most Powerful Women Asia 2026 list marks a new milestone in this journey, as FPT Retail continues to strengthen its growth foundation, enhance operational efficiency, and pursue long-term value for customers, shareholders, and the community.
