OneRail and IBM partner to optimize supply chain management

OneRail integrates its logistics platform into IBM's Sterling Order and Fulfillment Suite to enhance inventory control and reduce shipping costs for retailers and distributors.

This integration allows businesses to leverage inventory from multiple warehouses and local stores, while selecting shipping methods and providers based on cost and real-time delivery status, according to OneRail. The solution is expected to reduce split, incomplete, or canceled orders, while enabling earlier decision-making during order processing.

OneRail's OmniPoint platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) to instantly evaluate inventory options, shipping methods, and delivery provider capabilities. This technology streamlines order management decisions, reducing unnecessary steps that can cause delays and increase final-mile delivery costs.

For IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) customers, this partnership offers same-day delivery with a 98% on-time rate, access to a network of 12 million drivers, route and shipping method optimization for each item, and 24/7 support for delivery incidents. These features are designed to integrate alongside existing IBM systems, rather than replacing them entirely.

Kambiz Pakzad, IBM's Global Supply Chain Leader, said retailers now want to leverage inventory from all points in their distribution network, including stores. The addition of OneRail's final-mile delivery solution to the IBM Sterling Intelligent Promising system will help reduce order fulfillment costs, while improving the accuracy and reliability of delivery commitments.

OneRail emphasizes that ongoing investments in data science and machine learning are supporting the company's goal of more comprehensive supply chain coordination, providing businesses with better visibility and control over allocation, transportation, and delivery.

OneRail is an Orlando, Florida-based logistics technology company specializing in final-mile delivery solutions for retailers, distributors, and e-commerce businesses. OneRail's platform connects a network of millions of drivers and carriers, helping to optimize costs and enhance the delivery experience.

IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) is a multinational American technology corporation headquartered in New York, operating in various fields from software, cloud services, and artificial intelligence to supply chain management solutions. IBM Sterling is a suite of order management and fulfillment solutions trusted by many global businesses.
